Petron Blaze, Air21 Express celebrate first PBA victory

MANILA, Philippines – Sunday’s victory goes to Petron Blaze Boosters and Air21 Express teams, which both played well against their respective opponents in tonight’s PBA Commissioner’s cup eliminations held at the Ynares Center.

Blaze Booster won against B-Meg Llamados via 84-77, on the second game. It’s the first victory for Air21 and the first loss for B-Meg in this conference, so far.

Apart from their import Fazekas, Joseph Yeo also escorted Petron towards their first win of this shortened conference by posting 15 points and 6 rebounds.

For the very first time, Air21 Express, formerly Shopinas, just got their first win in PBA. The team has been from an awful losing streak since the 2011-12 PBA season.

If recalled, the Express has gone through 14 loses during the previous Philippine Cup.

Air21 defeated Barako Bull via final score of 97-88, with the helpf of a naturalized Filipino player Marcus Douthit, as their team import.

Bitoy Omolon finished with 17 points among the locals while Douthit has produced 16 points in this game.

2012 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Day 3 game results

Day 3 (February 15, 2012) entails game 5 and 6 of the 2012 PBA Commissioner’s cup elimination round.

Game 5 – The first game is played between B-MEG Llamados and Barako Bull Energy at the Cuneta Astrodome. B-MEG won via final score of 88-86 and is now taking the first lead on this conference’s elimination (2-0). Barako, on the other hand, is now holding a 1-1 card.

Game 6 – The second game is played between the Meralco Bolts and Petron Blaze Boosters at the Cuneta Astrodome. Meralco won against Petron via final score of 105-83 and is now grasping a 1-1 record for this conference elimination while Petron already has 2 losses.

SM Bowling Cup to kick off February 20, 2012

MANILA, Philippines – The battle between the latest rising amateurs and pro bowlers for the national finals is ready to start in the rolling of the richest and growing SM Bowling Cup on all SM Bowling Centers nationwide this Monday, February 20.

The information is disclosed by SM AVP Sales & marketing and Family Entertainment Center, Inc. (FECI) division manager Jed Arboleda and SM Bowling Center division manager Bonie Solis during the weekly PSA Forum yesterday held at Shakey’s U.N. Avenue branch, in Manila.

In line with this, they are inviting all interested participants to partake on the said event.

“We are inviting all pro and amateur bowlers to join and vying for the berths in the national finals of the event, beginning February 20, for a crack at a brand new cars and cash prizes,” Arboleda told the public sports session brought by Smart, PAGCOR, and Shakey’s Pizza.

Three brand new cars are to be given away in two center finals and National Finals.

Alaska Aces engulf RoS Painters, 109-102

MANILA, Philippines – The 15-point lead established by the Alaska Aces diminished in the 3rd quarter but the entire team rested on Cyrus Baguio, L.A. Tenorio and Bon-Bon Custodio at the endgame to overwhelm Rain or Shine, 109-102, and entered the win column of PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2012, Sunday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Baguio has delivered 25 points overall while Aces’ import Adam Parada produced 24 points with 20 rebounds. Tenorio, on the other hand, has 19 and Custodio got 12 points to save Alaska from a second loss.

“Cyrus was decisive he took shots as confident as ever. We did a good job in making stops defensively. We were struggling when they played zone in the end, but it’s good L. A. saved us, and Cyrus and Bonbon,” said Alaska Coach Joel Banal.

Alaska managed to keep the lead from the first canto down to the third, 78-63, with 4:21 left on the game clock but since then until 3:55 of the final period, the Elasto Painters created a 34-18 salvo to snatch the momentum, 97-96.

2012 PBA Commissioner’s Cup opening game, result

MANILA, Philippines – The 2012 Commissioner’s Cup of the Philippine Basketball Association formally commenced Friday night, February 10th, in which the Barako Bull promptly posted a big win against Alaska Milk via 98-78, first game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Willie Miller garnered 13 points of his overall 25 in the 3rd period, leading the rest of the Barako Bull to a victorious finish.

Meanwhile, the NBA veteran reinforcement for Barako, in the person of a 6-foot-9, 31, Derrmar Miles Johnson also did great on his first game with the Bull. He delivered 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists, overall. Other Bull players including Ronald Tubid, Don Allado and Leo Najorda also contributed with 10 points each for their team’s first victory.

Despite the win, BB coach Edmundo Baculi Jr. said that it still, “Very early to tell siguro Alaska played bad. It’s just the first game. Other teams have tough, huge import.”

“We were like this also last conference we learned our lesson well, no celebration yet. We have a good import but he’ll only be good if the locals are good,” he added.

Aces’ import Adam Parada finished the game with a total of 16 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocks for Alaska. They were only down by 5 points at the halftime, 34-39 but when Miller delivered 13 of the Energy’s 33-17 salvo, this deficit further stretched up to 26 points in the final period.

Filipino rowers eyeing for 2012 Asian Rowing Championships

MANILA, Philippines – Three Pinoy rowers will try to win in the 2012 Asian Rowing Championships so as to join the 2012 London Olympics.

The Philippine Rowing Association President Benjie Ramos on Friday announced that the Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Nestor Cordova, together with Alvin Amposta and Edgar Ilas have successfully qualified in two events which will be held at Chungjung, South Korea on April 26-29.

“Andex (Cordova) will be vying in his favorite single scull event where he is highly-ranked in the regional level, while Amposta and Ilas will be racing in tandem in the double scull,” said Ramos.

Six Olympic slots are at stake for a single scull, while three on the double scull. Thus, the chance for the Filipino rowers to join the 2012 Olympic Games depends on the Asian ranking and clocking from their last competition.

Ramos further said there’s a big hope on the single scull as Cordova has his personal best record of 7 minutes and 18 seconds when he won the 2-kilometer SEA Games.

Wade now ready to play after minor injury

After not being able to play in the last three games, Dwayne Wade was back as a starter for Miami Heat against Golden State Warriors on January 10, 2012 at ORACLE Arena, Oakland, CA. The Heat was defeated by GSW, 106-111, after the extended time.

Wade hurt his left foot in a clash against Charlotte on December 28. He hasn’t played since they lost to Atlanta on January 2nd.

GSW’s Andris Biedrins and Stephen Curry also weren’t able to play three games in a row after sprained ankles.
